Ecosystem

  The Ecosystem :
An “Ecosystem” is a living community of plants and animals sharing an environment with non-living elements such as climate and soil.

                               Ecosystem

Ecosystem exist on a variety of scales. An example of a small scale ecosystem (micro) is a pond.

A medium scale ecosystem (messo) could be a forest.

The Tropical rainforest is an example of a very large Ecosystem (boome)

Sunlight is the main source of energy. This allows plants to convert energy by photosynthesis. This provides food for some animals, birds and fish. These are called “Herbivores”.

The other animals eat the animals that have eaten the plants. These are "Carnivores".

This process is called “FOOD CHAIN”.

The world has many different ecosystems. Each one has its own climate, soil, plants and animals. Very few Ecosystems are natural today. Because of human activities. More Ecosystems are under threat than ever before and need protecting.

Biodiversity : The Majesty of Life

    The Majesty of Life :

When we say we want to save the world, we use the word  “Biodiversity”  to encompass this entire concept-which, granted, is a big one.

“Biodiversity” found on earth today consists of many millions of distinct biological species, the product of 4 billion years of evolution. But the word “Biodiversity” itself is actually quite new.

“Biodiversity” was coined as a contraction of “Biological Diversity” in 1985

A symposium in 1986 and the follow-up book Biodiversity (Wilson,1986), edited by biologist E.O.Wilson, carved the way for common acceptance of the word and concept.

And we were talking so much about Biodiversity. Because The world has begun, relatively recently, to lose species and habitats at an ever-increasing and alarming rate.

Biodiversity : Our Planet's Magic

The huge variety of other animals & plants on our world, together with the places were found is "BIODIVERSITY".

Do you know our world is simply AMAZING!Viewed by someone not from our world,it could be seen as one big, finely tunes & ultimately incredible machine.Sure this machine can take some knocks and bruises. It can bounce back.It is part of what makes it some marvelous. But we are entering unknown territory where some some of the extinctions we are causing may have deep and profound effects on how we live our lives.
In the ground time scale of our planet these effects maybe currently seen as the equivalent of storm clouds gathering on the horizon.
But rest assured, the storm is coming.Unless we learn to start loving and caring for what our world already given us.

*Convention on Biological Diversity's Global Biodiversity Outlook 3'report :
"We can no longer see the continued loss of biodiversity as an issue separate from the core concerns of society : to tackle poverty,to improve the health, property and security of present and future generation and to deal with climate change. Each of those objectives is undermined by current trends in the state of our ecosystems and each will be greatly strengthened if we finally give Biodiversity the priority it deserve".
